Blame it on your sweet tooth, the stress, or on one of your low days. But we always seem to have an excuse for that second glass. And with the Holidays just around the corner, it’s gonna be another sugary heyday.
But the pleasure these sinfully good drinks give us comes with a price. While we splurge on our drinks, we endanger our teeth. All that extra sugar can hurt us.
So before Santa comes let’s take a peek at how much sugar our drinks contain.
#1. Soft Drinks
Your favorite soda obviously has sugar, but that amount varies. A 355 ml can of Coca-Cola has 10 teaspoons of sugar, while a Mountain Dew has over 11.
#2. Energy Drinks
These popular drinks that promise to help you through a long day after pulling an all-nighter also contain sugar. Red Bull (245 ml) contains 7 teaspoons, while the larger Rockstar (473 ml) has a whopping 15 teaspoons.
#3. Fountain Drinks
These yummies are actually oozing with sugar! A 7-11 Big Gulp has 32 teaspoons of sugar, while a Super Big Gulp has an unhealthy 40 teaspoons!
#4. Fruit Juice
Your go-to fruit juices are not innocent as well. Golden Circle Tropical (591 ml) has 17 teaspoons and Snapple Lemon Iced Tea (473 ml) has 14 and a half teaspoons. Even Orange Juice (591 ml) contains a surprising 12 teaspoons!
#5. Milk Drinks
Forget that thought of just switching to milk, because it has sugar too. Chocolate Milk (473 ml) contains 16 teaspoons, while even the “healthy” alternative, Vitasoy (240 ml) contains 4.5 teaspoons of sugar!
Now that you know better, you’ll probably have second, third thoughts before grabbing that second glass, right? Well, fingers crossed!
